Filmed on location in Guatemala and Mexico, "Journey of Faith: The New World" visits various the Mexican and Central American locations Lehi's family and descendents appear to have lived and thrived in. Each site is based on Mormon's descriptions of the land, history, and traditions of Lehi's descendents in order to uncover the way of life of the Nephites and Lamanites.
